Boob jobs are the #1 cosmetic surgery in America, and that makes total sense. Having small or unshapely breasts can make a woman feel less womanly, so wanting to “fix” them is natural. And especially these days implant surgery is becoming simpler and more convincing, so that fake boobs look more and more real.
But there are still some things to think about before going ahead with the process. Having larger or fuller breasts might make you feel sexier, but good plastic surgeons will warn you about the potential problems that can occur with breast surgery.
1) You can’t go from Flat to Fat
Going up too many sizes right away will make you look like you have a couple of volleyballs stuffed into your shirt, and your new boobs will be more likely to sag because of their weight. Going too big can also cause you to have neck and back pain, which is why some women with naturally large breasts decide to get reductions
Maybe less important but still something to think about – it can be hard to find clothing that will fit your bigger boobs as well as your waist, which hasn’t changed. It’s a good idea to stay within a cup or two of your natural size when planning your surgery. You can actually go larger over time as your body adjusts. Just talk to your surgeon!
2) Numb nipples
It’s possible that the nerves in your breasts can be affected during a boob job so that sensation disappears, sometimes forever. In some cases the feeling comes back after your body heals, and massaging your breasts and nipples can help. In other cases the nerve causes shooting pain, but this can also sometimes be helped by massage.
Depending where the incisions were made, there is also a possibility that your nipples won’t produce milk after you get a boob job. But there are a lot of options for where the implants are put in, so if you want to be able to breastfeed afterward, make sure your surgeon knows.
3) Might need more surgery
Sometimes breast implants start to leak, or get warped out of shape. They can also be affected by changes in your weight, or during pregnancy. If any of these things happen, you might need to have more surgery to fix their shape or size or stop them from leaking.
If you start to notice soreness or swelling any time after getting a boob job, one of your implants might have ruptured. Your doctor might recommend getting the implant removed, but you can usually have a new one put in during the same surgery.
So do whatever makes you feel happy and comfortable! But keep these tips in mind and remember that your body is beautiful and deserves to be loved. If you have any other questions about wanting to feel sexier, or deciding to make a change, email me at DryVonka@DrYvonka.com!
