Tons of people dread the word Valentine, whether it’s because they hate emptying out their wallets on fancy gifts and restaurants, or because they have no one to empty their wallets out for. But there are tons of ways to take advantage of the holiday. If you don’t have a special someone to spoil or be spoiled by, then spoil yourself! Maybe you’re actually the love of your life you’ve been waiting for all this time.
A Different Kind of Valentine Date
It’s hard to plan the perfect night out for a significant other, but you know yourself better than anyone, and that means you know exactly what you want to do on a special evening. Maybe a boyfriend or girlfriend wouldn’t think burritos count as a romantic dinner, but if you’re going as your own date, then who’s to complain? Plus, think of all the money you’ll save just buying dinner for one, even if you decide to take yourself out to a fancy steak house.
You can see whatever movie you like, go to any bar you choose – or even stay in bed as long as you like! Having someone to share this love-soaked holiday with can be nice, but it’s also the perfect time of year to fall in love with yourself again.
Make it Special
If you don’t want to feel like you’re just hiding out from the armies of lovers making out in the streets, plan something special for yourself. If you do something exciting or different instead of hanging out at home in sweats, you probably won’t feel like you’re missing out on anything. There are tons of singles mixers that you can dress up and head out to – if you don’t have a lover already, what better time to meet one?
But if you’re happy flying solo, cross something off your bucket list! Take a helicopter flying tour, hike a pretty nature trail, get tickets to a performance – whatever sounds exciting and memorable. And if you’ve got a sweet tooth, take some of your favorite candies as your delicious little date to keep in the seat next to you.
Have a Happy Ending
Plan out a sexy evening for yourself. I always talk about the importance of sexual alone time, and when could be more appropriate than on a romantic holiday? Raid your local sex shop and buy yourself some new goodies! Pick up some high quality lube, a new sex toy that interests you, or even a movie that catches your eye.
Take it slow, warm yourself up and make it special. And don’t forget to pick up some treats for after – champagne, hot chocolate, whatever you like. Give yourself the special treatment you deserve like nobody else can. Who knows, maybe you’ll start to prefer going solo on Valentine’s Day in the future.
